LED displays are everywhere today—from billboards and store windows to conference rooms and live events. But to choose the right one, it’s important to understand a few basic technical terms. These parameters help you know what kind of performance to expect from your display.
Pixel Pitch
Pixel pitch is the distance between two neighboring pixels, measured in millimeters. A smaller pixel pitch means the pixels are packed closer together, which gives you higher resolution and better image quality—especially when viewed up close. For example, a display with a 2mm pitch looks much sharper than one with a 10mm pitch at the same distance.
Brightness
Brightness tells you how well the display performs in different lighting conditions. It’s measured in nits. Indoor LED displays usually need 500–1,500 nits, while outdoor ones might go over 5,000 nits to stay visible in sunlight.
Contrast Ratio
This shows the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white the screen can display. A high contrast ratio means deeper colors and more vibrant images, which really helps the content stand out.
Color Gamut
The color gamut is the range of colors the display can show. A wider color gamut means better color accuracy—important for things like advertising, retail displays, or any content where color really matters.
Knowing these basic parameters helps you make a smarter choice when selecting an LED display for your project.
